3) do you also sell reproductions?

no, we never sell any reproductions or reprints. all our prints are genuine. back to top

4) can you tell me more about the quality of the images?

the scans of the prints you can see on our website do not reflect the quality and the colouring of the original engraving as the scanning has to be compressed to allow a fast loading. if you are interested in a particular item, we can send you a better scan and enlarged details of the print. unfortunately, a scanned image is submitted to many technical parameters (size of the print, compresssion, colour schemes,...). an original print is always more beautiful that what you can see on a screen. back to top

5) how about the colouring of the prints?

most wood, copper and steel engravings were published uncoloured with exceptions - botanical, costumes and fashion plates. sometimes topographical prints which were not normally coloured, would have colouring added by the publisher as an extra value but not so commonly as it was considerably increasing the publishing costs. "original hand colouring" means that the print was coloured for its publication, or that the colour had been applied a very short time after it. "old hand colouring" means the colour is old, but not original. the colour could had been applied many years later. "recent hand colouring" - the colour is recent, using modern paints. back to top

6) do you ship worldwide?

yes, we ship worldwide. we have customers all over the world. If you have special wishes concerning the shipping, you just have to specify them. we normally send our prints by airmail.

all our items are mounted and protected by a glassine. we take particulary care of the package and until now we never had a print that arrived damaged. back to top
